The selection process is highly competitive, with up to 20 students chosen each year.

This year however, the Foundation was able to increase the scholarships by ten to have an intake of 30 recipients. Eight of the new scholarships were enabled by the financial assistance of the KenGen Employee Givers while two were from our partnership with Bamburi Cement Ltd.

The scholarship program covers tuition fees for the four years that the students will be in school. The beneficiaries are usually bright students from poor backgrounds who cannot manage to raise the tuition fees for secondary school education.

So far over Kshs. 600 million has been invested by the Company in scholarships and education infrastructure support for institutions from all over the country. Over 500 students have to date gone through the scholarship programme.
