The new Megawatt Caf\u00e9 situated at 11th floor of KenGen Pension Plaza 2 opened its doors on 5th January bringing a new culinary experience to Central Office staff.<\/p>\n

With a classy and elegant ambience, the caf\u00e9 offers dine-in options with seating for 52, a panoramic view of Nairobi City and comfortable booth and free style seating areas against a back drop of warm recessed LED lights.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe opening of the caf\u00e9 is definitely a new and exciting chapter for KenGen\u2019s staff and visitor\u2019s as it will not only cater to individuals\u2019 tastes, but also serve meetings and outside guests\u201d, said Mike Njeru, KenGen Foundation Managing Trustee while welcoming the first diners at the Caf\u00e9.<\/p>\n

The caf\u00e9\u2019s menu,\u00a0created by the Restaurant Manager Jovita Ateya and Chef Anthony Kiarie, is diverse. For breakfast, there is a variety of popular snacks including American and lemon pancakes and other continental bites as well as the local nduma (arrow root) and ngwaci (sweet potatoes) The main course list excites the taste buds with a variety of meals including roast chicken, grilled lamb chops, steaks, fish, and burgers. The menu \u00a0 also offers a variety of vegetarian options.<\/p>\n

The caf\u00e9 drew more than 70 diners during its opening day, with positive reviews indicating that KenGen Central Office staff had long waited for fresh tasty and quality meals.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want people to feel relaxed and enjoy their meals at Megawatt caf\u00e9\u201d, said Jovita Ateya. \u201cApart from the relaxing and calm atmosphere, we are offering diners a unique culinary journey for the ultimate gourmet experience\u201d.<\/p>\n

The Caf\u00e9 patrons will take take breathtaking views the city as they dine and take work breaks at the Caf\u00e9 where they enjoy free Wi Fi.<\/p>\n

Megawatt Caf\u00e9 is project of the KenGen Foundation as part of its social investment activities.<\/p>\n

The partial opening will run for one month as the Megawatt team works to upscale its operations and refine processes before the grand opening, whose date will be announced soon.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe welcome you enjoy our dishes and at the same time give us feedback in terms of our services\u201d, said Chef Kiarie, who joined the catering team from NAS. \u201cWe will strive to offer the best in the industry and we will soon unveil a new and exciting menu to cater for all guests\u201d.<\/p>\n

The caf\u00e9 opens at 7 a.m. and closes at 5 p.m. Monday to Friday.<\/p>\n
