The KenGen Foundation team was delighted to hand over a cheque of Ksh. 100,000 to the Kenya Community Development Foundation (KCDF) for this year\u2019s 8th Community Open Golf Tournament, and in celebration of the organization\u2019s 20th anniversary of working with communities, on 20 March.<\/p>\n

The cheque, presented to KCDF\u2019s Corporate Partnership Coordinator Ms. Purity Murugi, will specifically be channelled to fund the Pamoja4Change model, which empowers communities to take charge of their own development projects by harnessing local resources.<\/p>\n

\u201cKenGen Foundation has held close association with KCDF since our inception, and we congratulate them on their 20 years anniversary\u201d, said the Foundation\u2019s Managing Trustee, Mike Njeru.<\/p>\n

\u201cApart from advising us in laying the groundwork for our establishment and strategy, the two organizations are currently exploring collaborations on mutually beneficial community projects to leverage this unique relationship\u201d, he added.<\/p>\n

KCDF is a Kenyan public foundation that supports community development initiatives across Kenya through grant-making, capacity development, endowment building as well as resource mobilization.<\/p>\n

The KenGen Foundation and KCDF programs complement each on the thematic areas of Environment, Education, and Water & Sanitation an effort to address the basic need of the needy and marginalized communities across the country.<\/p>\n

Pamoja4Change is one of the ways KCDF uses to increase ownership and sustainability within communities. The model requires communities raise 50% of total project cost, with KCDF matching the amount raised.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s 8th Community Open Golf Tournament will be held on 24 March at Karen Golf Club, Nairobi with KenGen golfers participating.<\/p>\n
