The KenGen Foundation team signed up 21 new subscribers to the KenGen Employee Giver Initiative from Western Hydros during a recruitment exercise carried out at Sondu Miriu, Gogo, and Muhoroni power stations from 28-31 March.<\/p>\n

The success of the recruitment exercise also saw Sondu Miriu\u2019s Operations Manager Eng. Frank Konuche sign up to the Giver Initiative which aims at involving KenGen staff in Corporate Social Investment activities in education, environmental conservation, and water and sanitation projects.<\/p>\n

\u201cThrough the Giver Initiative, Foundation has embarked on a noble cause of helping the less fortunate in the society, and this is something we are proud to be a part of\u201d, said Eng. Konuche. \u201cI commend the team for their efforts in adding more staff to the initiative\u201d, he added.
\n<\/p>\n

Currently, Western Hydros has more than 70% of its staff signed up to the program, making it the KenGen operation area with the highest numbers of subscriptions.<\/p>\n

During a cocktail held in appreciation of all Western Hydros Givers, the Foundation\u2019s Managing Trustee Mike Njeru congratulated all subscribers for their efforts and commitment to the initiative.<\/p>\n

\u201cThrough your contributions, the initiative has enabled the Foundation expand on its sustainable programs including supporting extra students under the education pillar and at the same time scale up the company\u2019s environmental conservation projects\u201d, said Mike Njeru.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is through the Giver Initiative that KenGen staff have an opportunity to develop their leadership and project management skills, meet and mingle with community members, as well as staff from other stations from different parts of the country for a noble cause\u201d, he added.<\/p>\n

During the appreciation ceremony, Peter Ngachuro, Sondu Miriu\u2019s Community Liaison Officer was nominated as Western Hydros Giver Champion. He is an alumni of the KenGen Education Scholarships.<\/p>\n

The Foundation teams will be holding similar ceremonies at other stations over the next month.<\/p>\n
