10 new \u2018Givers\u2019 from Kipevu Power Station subscribed to the KenGen Employee Giver Initiative during the recruitment and appreciation exercise carried out by the KenGen Foundation team from 4-7 April. This brings the number of Givers from the station to 63.<\/p>\n

During the luncheon held in honour of the coast region Givers, the station\u2019s Operations Manager Eng. Julius Odumbe praised the area Givers team in their commitment and dedication towards active contributions in the company\u2019s Corporate Social Investment activities.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur Givers have been very active since their registration and induction as seen by their contribution to the less fortunate in the society, especially during the annual GivingTuesday celebrated in December\u201d, said Eng. Odumbe.<\/p>\n

He noted that last year, the Kipevu staff led by Givers managed to raise over Ksh. 750,000 for the drought victims at GanzeConsituency, Kilifi Sub-county, which \u00a0the Company was proud to match shilling for shilling.<\/p>\n

The Foundation\u2019s Managing Trustee Mr. Mike Njeru congratulated the new Givers and encouraged them to be as active as their counter-parts in the initiative.<\/p>\n

Highlighting the Initiative\u2019s achievements, Mike said that through the Givers, the company has been able to increase the number of the Education Scholarship beneficiaries, apart from enabling the expansion and up-scaling of our other projects in Environment, and Water and Sanitation\u201d.<\/p>\n

The Employee Giver Initiative is a unique program for KenGen staff to be directly involved in the company\u2019s CSI activities. Subscribers contribute through monetary donations, their time, and skills towards the Foundation\u2019s three pillars of sustainability namely Education, Environment, Water and Sanitation.<\/p>\n

During the event, the station\u2019s Community Liaison Assistant Isaac Asienwa was unanimously nominated as the area\u2019s Giver Champion. He will be responsible for coordinating all Giver activities at Kipevu.<\/p>\n

The Foundation continues with the recruitment and appreciation exercise at other KenGen areas over the next month.<\/p>\n
