In a mighty show of love for the environment, the KenGen Foundation, and Nairobi Greenline brought the KenGen Employee Givers to plant trees at the Nairobi National Park buffer zone to contribute to the conservation of the world renowned only park within a capital city, the Nairobi National Park on May 20.

KenGen employee volunteers, under the Giver Initiative from the Central Office were led in planting trees at the park by the acting MD Eng. Richard Nderitu, and the Foundation’s Managing Trustee Mike Njeru in a day that was spiced up with fun of a picnic lunch and a game drive.

The day’s event was graced by the presence of reigning Miss Environment Kenya Evelyne Arasa and Miss Tourism Kajiado Saiton Parmuat, who demonstrated their passion for environmental conservation by rolling up their sleeves and joining the KenGen staff in the tree planting exercise.

“As we are all aware, the generous, tranquil and unique Nairobi National Park has in the recent years experienced ever-increasing human encroachment as the city grows. Its proximity to the capital has exposed its rich ecosystem to environmental risks associated with human encroachment”, said Eng. Nderitu at the opening of the exercise.

“I congratulate the Central office Givers for the great enthusiasm they have shown to participate in this noble environmental task that will outlive our generation and save this beautiful park for posterity”, he added.
